Do you want to code, find a direct way to communicate with the like-minded people and get some type of mentorship? Are you facing difficulties like time and money constraints?  Y Combinator backed startup Livecoding.tv tries to address the same issue.
Livecoding.tv was in beta since this February and it was launched officially last week. Since February, about 40,000 people have signed up on the online learning portal to watch the other people code and learn from them.
The live streams are sorted on the basis of language you are interested in. When you hit the languages selection button, a long list of languages pops up in front of you: Obj-C/Swift for iOS coding, Java, Android development, C/C++, C#/.NET, Python, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, SQL, HTML/CSS and more.
Based upon your expertise level (beginner, intermediate and expert) you are given different choices of channels to watch and learn from. Techcrunchreports that users are streaming and watching the streams in a variety of languages, including English, German, Russian, and Portuguese. You are free to stream anything about coding and there isn’t any age restriction. Just sign up through a quick process and you can follow particular channels and receive email notifications as the new live stream starts.
Livecoding.tv founder Jamie Green says that the interaction is the key difference here and tells its advantages over the usual YouTube tutorial watching. The tutorials streamed on YouTube are heavily edited and in real life people don’t code that way.
“Some people say that it helps them to concentrate and to think better, if they know that they have an audience they’re not going to be switching to Facebook every five minutes and getting distracted.” Jamie says that live education is the future and he hopes that his startup could make a difference by expanding into other areas beyond coding.

Currently, Livecoding.tv is completely free to use. The website will never have advertisements, but it could charge some subscription fee in future to provide more curated content, according to Livecoding.tv founder.
